Whilst reading...

Well peeps I have been sick for almost a week now. Flu sick, the kind of flu where my scalp hurts, I have sinus pressure induced vertigo, my voice sounds like a man's and I use up almost two entire boxes of kleenex in the course of 5 days, ridiculous. I can't remember the last time I was sick for this long. It has given me the chance to catch up on my sleep, finish Jpod (which was okay but isn't my favorite Coupland novel), watch waaay too much television and to add a few more songs to 'reading english classics'. It's good timing since I am about to embark upon Anna Karenina (which I realize is not an english classic but I believe the playlist can bridge the gap to other classics). This is the copy I have and I swear it's almost three inches thick. Pretty though.

 

 I figured that it's been a while since I did a giveaway and this playlist is pretty much perfect so I should share it. Sooo all you have to do is drop me a comment and tell me what you would read whilst listening to this lovely little playlist and I'll draw names when I feel like it. I will not count your comment unless you include a book choice. This playlist was designed to be listened to whilst reading english classics; however I will not discount your comment if your chosen book is outside the realm of english classics (unless it is a sci-fi book, ha). Additionally I seem to have added Bethany's name to the draw even though she didn't comment because I am crazy (and she usually comments a lot, ha) so I've drawn another name and a CD will go to 'Mom'(AKA my Mom) as well. It's pretty cute that she commented, we like my Mom. So again thanks for playing and sorry I'm crazy, I'll blame it on the fact that I am still partially sick.

Patience & Hope on Repeat...

And now it's give away time! Over the last few weeks I have been working on the ultimate songs on repeat compilation. This is sort of the soundtrack to my summer and fall and definitely the soundtrack to the creation of this show. It's comprised of all of the different songs I have been listening to on repeat over the last 4 or 5 months. I spent waaay longer than I should have choosing songs and working out the transitions and it is a seriously perfect listening experience. I have been listening to it while I work, draw, drive, run, pray and fall asleep and now one of you lucky peeps can do the same. I have called it 'Patience & Hope on Repeat' and it is up for grabs if you care to leave a comment. I'll do a random draw at the end of the week and odds are I'll throw in some other goodies to soooo...

Lastly

Well it's my last week in Seattle. This summer has been so incredible but I am ready to go home and start a new year. I've spent the last few days sketching at coffee shops, going to the beach and getting things together for the move. I don't know if I told you peeps that I found a place but I did and I am beyond excited to move in and set up my studio. So if anyone is free for their holiday Monday (the 7th) and wants something to do, drop me a line. I'll be moving all my stuff out of Beth's garage and into my new studio/bedroom and will need all the help I can get. You better believe I'll be christening the new studio with a Come Over & Draw Party as soon as I can get things looking presentable. So exciting.

I now have 3 pieces completed for the show and two others that are at the halfway point. I can't wait to hole myself up in my studio and really get to work. I kind of love the stress pressure of procrastinating before deadlines, it's like a runner's high.

A couple sketchbook pages from this week...

I used to draw coffee shops all the time but haven't done it in a while. This is my favorite Starbucks down in Edmonds by the waterfront. For some reason I drew it all on a weird angle.

This page has a weird pinkish tint that I could not correct for the life of me.

In other news, I went and got an oil change done on my car today. The gross middle aged married guy who worked there kept looking me up and down in a manner that made me most uncomfortable. I think leering would be a good way of describing it. I must make a mental note never to wear a dress to a Jiffy Lube again. Ew.

And The Winner is...

Lisa. I let my sister's dog Snookie pick so I wouldn't be accused of "rigging the draw". He didn't pick Nathan, ha. 

Snookie was our family dog growing up and he's pretty darn old now. I still like him though even though he's all old and persnickety.

He was all worn out after picking. As an interesting side-note I should tell you that a bit later on after the draw he went outside and we found Bri's piece of paper stuck to his face. Ha. I had left all the name slips on the floor and he was sniffing around them.

Speech Bubbles, Walks and Free Things...

So I've begun packaging stuff for the Royal Bison. Beth came over on Tuesday and we watched Sex & The City and crafted. She cut flags for bunting and I packaged...

This is pretty much my favorite Pretty Sketchy product so far.

Stationery sets, they include 4 custom stick-on mailing labels, 4 minty green envelopes (the color is a bit off here) and 10 sheets of speech bubble stationary. Here's a detail.

Yay! I've already written a few letters on them and I love them. I just hope others do as well.

I've been working full time all week teaching art at an amazing school. The kids are fabulous and I've really enjoyed my week. However I'm not used to full time work and I haven't been too productive outside of school, agh.

Tonight Meg, Joel and I went to IKEA for dinner (amazing) and then went for a walk in the river valley. It finally feels like it might be spring soon. After all the stupid snow in May I'm ready for it. I took this last week...
